A marketing strategy is at the top of our minds as real estate agents and as we begin to launch our new venture DwellAgent. Today, we read an article “7 things social media can’t do” by Denise Zimmerman and it should be read by every real estate agent looking to market themselves online or through social media.
“Social media can’t substitute for marketing strategy.” Zimmerman later explains that a social media strategy is a piece of the greater marketing effort, one that integrates social media elements. When it comes to social media you need to be an active participant and you must engage your audience. You cannot claim success by having a large number of fans or friends it’s not magic. It goes much further then the list and you need to “focus on your customer.”
This is an important subject worth highlighting for real estate agents and for any business owner. As so many flock to social media to build and maintain their relationships with past, current, and future clients it is easy to get lost. It has been a challenge for us and it will always be evolving.
When a real estate agent is implementing their marketing strategy they should ask these important questions:
Who is my audience and how do I engage them?
Who is my customer?
What is my brand?
How will I quantify my results?
As a real estate agent or any other type of expert you have the knowledge that your client needs. Social media might have its benefits, being in front of your clients, viewing properly, and directly working with clients will produce results. Your marketing strategy should include social media, the use of great online marketing tools, and your “in-person” talent. – Good luck.
